At Vent AI, Inc ("we," "our," or "us"), we are committed to protecting your personal information, your data, and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our web and mobile application Vent Now (the "App").

Our Promise

Your privacy is at the root of why we built this product in the first place. Many AI products are compromising your trust by having shady and unclear policies around your data. We built Vent Now with a simple promise:

All conversations and personal data are encrypted end-to-end, meaning only you can see what you write or share (unless you violate our terms of use). We believe transparency builds trust, so this policy is written to help you understand what we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.

2. Information We Collect

We collect several types of information from and about users of our App, including:

Personal Data: Personally identifiable information, such as your name, and email address, that you voluntarily give us when you register with the App or when you choose to participate in various activities related to the App.

Device and Connection Information: In accordance with your device or browser settings, your device or browser automatically transmits data to us regarding the timing and manner of your installation, access, or utilization of our Services. This encompasses details such as your device model, operating system details, browser details and web page referrers, mobile network, connection details, mobile carrier or internet service provider (ISP), time zone configuration, IP address (including data about the device's location inferred from your IP address), identifiers (including device or advertising identifiers, probabilistic identifiers, and other unique personal or online identifiers), and device location.

Usage Data: Information on how you use the App, such as the features you use, the actions you take, and the time, frequency, and duration of your activities.

Log and Troubleshooting Information. We gather data regarding the performance of our Services during your usage. This encompasses log files and system diagnostics. In the event that you or your device encounters an error, we may capture details about the error, including when it happened, which feature was in use, the application's state at the time of the error, and any communications or content that were present when the error occurred.

3. Uses of Personal Data Permitted Under Applicable Data Protection Laws

To provide, maintain and facilitate any products and services offered to you with respect to your Vent AI account, which are governed by our Terms of Service

Important: We do not train our AI models on customer data. All customer data is encrypted end-to-end, ensuring that your personal conversations and information cannot be used for model training purposes.

4. Disclosure of Your Information

We may share information we have collected about you in certain situations. Your information may be disclosed as follows:

For Business Transfers: We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.
With Your Consent: We may disclose your personal information for any other purpose with your consent.
Legal Obligations: We may disclose your personal information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

4.1 Third-Party Services We Use

We use trusted third-party service providers to operate, secure, and improve Vent Now. These providers process data on our behalf only as needed to provide their services. Before using Vent Now, you are required to review and agree to this Privacy Policy, including the data sharing practices described below.

Clerk (Authentication): We use Clerk to manage user sign-up, login, and session security. Clerk processes your email address and authentication credentials to keep your account secure.

Amazon Web Services (Cloud Infrastructure): Our application and database are hosted on AWS, including Amazon RDS for database hosting.

Google (Gemini), Anthropic, OpenAI, Groq, Cartesia, ElevenLabs, and Fal.ai (AI & Audio Processing Providers): To power the core features of Vent Now, we send certain user data to third-party AI and audio processing providers. The specific types of data shared with these providers include:

Message text: The text content of your conversations within the App.
Voice audio: Audio recordings you submit via the App's voice features, which may be processed by providers including Cartesia, ElevenLabs, and Fal for speech-to-text transcription, speech synthesis, and voice-based interactions.
Images: Images you share in chat messages (such as attachments or screenshots) may be sent to our AI providers for processing and response generation.
User profile information: Relevant profile details needed to personalize your experience.
Memory data: Information stored by our custom memory system, which helps the AI remember context from your past interactions to provide more personalized responses.
Quiz responses: Your answers to in-app quizzes and assessments, used to tailor AI interactions to your needs.
Safety system data: Information processed by our internal safety system to detect and prevent harmful content and ensure a safe user experience.
Onboarding data: Information you provide during the onboarding process, such as your goals, preferences, and personal context, which is shared with AI providers to deliver personalized experiences and analyses.

We have Zero Data Retention (ZDR) agreements in place with Google (Gemini), OpenAI, and Groq, meaning these providers do not store or retain your data after processing. For more information on how each provider handles data, please refer to their respective privacy policies:

All data sent to these AI providers is encrypted in transit. These providers are contractually obligated to process your data only as necessary to provide their services to us and are required to maintain appropriate security measures to protect your data.

Sentry, Datadog, and PostHog (Logging & Analytics): These tools help us understand how users interact with the app, monitor performance, and fix bugs. All sensitive data, such as your conversations and personal reflections, is never sent to these services.

AppStack, Meta (Facebook), Google, and Apple (Advertising): We use advertising pixels and attribution tools to measure the effectiveness of our campaigns and reach people who may benefit from our services. These tools help us understand how people interact with our ads across platforms. Your conversations and personal reflections are never sent to these advertising providers.

Your conversations are protected with end-to-end encryption. Data is also encrypted in transit and at rest within our infrastructure where applicable.

We are not currently HIPAA compliant but plan to pursue this in the near future.

Please note that these third-party service providers have their own privacy policies addressing how they use such information.

5. Data Retention

We will retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our policies.

6. Data Security

We have implemented appropriate technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. These measures include:

Encryption of personal data in transit and at rest
Encryption of personal data within our database
Regular security assessments and penetration testing
Access controls and authentication mechanisms
Employee training on data protection and security

We store our data in an end-to-end encrypted database.

However, please remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

Our App does not permit anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers.
